Out and about!

The Murg Valley, Baiersbronn and Heselbacher Hof have everything you could wish for in a holiday destination: wonderful clean air, exquisite countryside and exciting leisure activities. Action, sport and fun – it all happens here.

First of all, there is the walking – the traditional activity of the Black Forest. The possibilities available to the rambler are almost unlimited: simply head off on your own (you can start from right outside the hotel entrance), join one of the many guided walks organised by our team, or check out "Baiersbronn Walking Heaven” – the extensive, all-year-round walking programme run by Baiersbronn Tourist Information. Mind you, even in heaven, the influence of the modern world has long since been in evidence: many walking routes around Baiersbronn are available as GPS data.

There is similar diversity for people wishing to cycle. Whether you ride a mountain bike, touring bike or racing bike, you will love the vast network of cycle ways and numerous mountain paths. A particular family favourite is the Tour of the Murg – 65 flat, enjoyable kilometres through the varied landscape of the Murg Valley.

The range of other leisure activities on offer is also wide: a game of tennis, an exciting paragliding course, a round of golf (Freudenstadt), a relaxing spot of fly fishing in the Murg, a barbeque afterwards, a moonlit stroll, a dip in the cool depths of an outdoor swimming pool and, and, and…

A change of scene. Winter in the Black Forest – a dream. Alpine skiers are drawn to the ski lifts in Baiersbronn or to the "Black Forest High Road”, a scenic tourist route. Cross-country skiers can be straight onto the ski trail almost from right outside the hotel′s front door, and skaters should head to the ice rink in Baiersbronn. Apart from the winter sports on offer, you can also experience a winter wonderland of the visual kind; walks along snow-cleared paths, tobogganing with the kids and then mulled wine afterwards at Heselbacher Hof.

And if you feel like venturing further afield? Take your pick from Baden-Baden and the Alsace, the Schluchsee reservoir lake, the Titisee lake and the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum. Or the German Clock Museum, glassblowing, a silver mine, the Dorotheenhütte glass museum in Wolfach or perhaps an excursion to the Alpirsbacher monastery brewery and museum. There is certainly plenty to see and enjoy!

You can also get around without a car. The Baiersbronn Konus guest card gives you free travel on buses and trains within all nine transport networks in the Black Forest. That will get you safely to the 150-plus attractions that you can obtain free admission to courtesy of the Schwarzwald Card.

We are happy to help you put together a selection of activities to create a programme.
